Historic colleges, museums and contemporary event venues
Oxford University is made up of more than 30 colleges, each with its own history, architecture and character. College buildings and facilities can be found across the city, ranging from medieval quadrangles and historic dining halls to striking examples of modern architecture. These spaces are not only centres of study and research; many also host conferences, meetings, receptions, dinners, accommodation and filming throughout the year.
Many colleges welcome visitors, although opening times and access arrangements vary throughout the year and may be affected by term dates, examinations, ceremonies and private events. Further information can be found on the College Visitor Information page.
Beyond the colleges, visitors can also explore the University's gardens, libraries and museums, including the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian Libraries, the Pitt Rivers Museum and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.
