Investcorp Building opens at St Antony’s

Stunning new building wins numerous awards.

On Tuesday 26th May 2015, the St Antony's College building created by Dame Zaha Hadid was unveiled and named the Investcorp Building. the £11 million building was commissioned by St Antony's College to provide much-needed space for its Middle East Centre.

The Investcorp boasts a real hidden gem within the building; a state-of-the-art 117-seat auditorium. Despite being located underground, the clever open layout of the central atrium allows the lower ground floor to remain flooded with natural light.

The gently curved 24mm thick white oak walls of the auditorium allow for sound to travel easily, enabling smaller scale talks and lectures to be delivered without the aid of the inbuilt microphones. Sound amplification is possible from the lectern at the press of a button.

The rest of the audio-visual equipment is similarly user friendly. The interface equipment is all bespoke, and designed so that first time users can quickly and easily become comfortable bringing down projector screens, lowering light levels and every other task required for an event to run smoothly.

The building and its architect have received numerous awards; most notable was the award of the Oxford Preservation Trust award in 2015. http://www.zaha-hadid.com/architecture/middle-east-centre-st-antonys-college/
