Work is underway on the Dorothy Wadham building
Work is underway on the Dorothy Wadham building in Iffley Road which will provide student accommodation for Wadham College students in term time and summer school/academic visitor accommodation during summer vacations.
From Michaelmas 2019 the Dorothy Wadham Building will provide accommodation for 135 students. Ensuite bedrooms are arranged in clusters with shared kitchen/lounge areas. Designed by architects Allies and Morrison, the site features an attractive internal courtyard garden, large garden room offering flexible teaching/recreation space, a computer room and laundry room. The site and buildings are designed to blend in with local surroundings, and will be accessible for students with disabilities, with 8 larger fully adapted bedrooms.
During summer vacations the accommodation will be available for fully/partly-catered summer school use, as well as for cultural and academic visitors to Oxford wanting bed and breakfast. The large garden room leading out onto the landscaped courtyard is easily configured to provide bright adaptable classroom and communal dining space. The accommodation will benefit from an on-site manager and 24 hour reception/security.
