New Member Venue: The History of Science Museum

The History of Science Museum now available for events!

We are pleased to welcome the oldest surviving purpose built museum in the world as one of our member venues! The History of Science Museum is now open for private hire, allowing you to experience this venue in a brand new light.

During the day, the History of Science Museum is open to the public during their usual opening hours. Originally built as Oxford’s first Ashmolean Museum, it houses the world’s finest collection of early scientific instruments from Europe and the Islamic World, including sundials and astrolabes of extraordinary beauty. More modern treasures include microscopes, scientific models, photographic and wireless equipment – and a blackboard still bearing calculations by Albert Einstein.

During the evening, this museum transforms and offers you the opportunity to weave your event around the exhibitions on display, providing a bespoke private dining experience for up to 30 guests in their Basement Gallery. This historic venue is also available for drinks receptions, providing you with the perfect backdrop to entertain your guests. The Museum can also accommodate meetings and lectures.

If you are interested in more information about this venue, please contact the Operations Team on 01865 277293/277298 or email them at venue@mhs.ox.ac.uk.
