Year-long renovation is completed
Trinity College's chapel has undergone an extensive year-long programme of renovation. The priceless Grinling Gibbon's carvings, exquisite plasterwork and magnificent ceiling paintings have all been cleaned and repaired. In the case of the carvings, the 19th centure black staining has been removed. A victorian window has been returned to its original position above the entrance and the organ has also been refurbished. Finally a new lighting system and full redecoration ensures that the chapel has been returned to its original splendour for its reopening in Trinity term 2016. Over fifty craftsmen and craftswomen were involved in the project, which is probably the most significant and wide-ranging work to be undertaken on the chapel since its construction over three hundred years ago.
