Wolfson College’s new Academic Wing completed

Award-winning building "stuns and delights".

Wolfson College has always presented a breathtakingly beautiful "rear aspect" overlooking the River Cherwell. With the completion of its new Academic Wing, the college is now equally eye-catching from the front. The new building has received two RIBA South Awards, with the judges describing it as a "building that stuns and delights from the moment you set eyes on it". Inspired by the clean lines and striking geometry of the original 1960s architectural vision, the new design succesfully achieved the RIBA South Conservation Award by "adding to, enhancing and embracing the Powell and Moya building and, while being reverential, not being shy nor overwhelmed".

For conference bookings, completion of the new building adds the serenity of an outdoor courtyard grove to the elegant 155 seat auditorium within, as well as an open and airy cafe area for evening receptions. The glowing lights of the art installation along the entrance warmly welcome all to share Wolfson's vibrancy as the College marks its 50th anniversary year.
